The most I had ever been away from my family was one week every summer during camp in the mountains, and I had only ever traveled to a couple of states outside of Colorado. After I saw People to People Ambassador Program presentation, there was no stopping me from getting on a plane to Australia and New Zealand less than 8 months later.I can tell you now, that was the best decision I could have ever made in my life. Two aftershocks in Christchurch, New Zealand, drive some minor program adjustments
Two “aftershock” earthquakes occurred in Christchurch, New Zealand on June 12th; one registering a magnitude of 5.2, and the second a magnitude of 6.0. These are considered aftershocks from the primary earthquake that took place back in February of this year. Following the February earthquake, we made minor adjustments to our programs and moved all activities away from the downtown Christchurch area. As a result of the latest aftershocks, we have made some additional changes to each of the 12 itineraries traveling to southern New Zealand. Continue Reading »
People to People Carefully Monitoring Tragic Events in the South Pacific
Our friends in the south Pacific have had more than their share of challenges in the last few months, including the floods and cyclone cyclone Uasi that impacted several cities in Northeast Australia earlier this month. We are carefully monitoring the current situation surrounding the earthquake in New Zealand to determine if the events unfolding might impact our students in any way during the upcoming travel season.
